Every four years, the Pentagon produces a document called the Quadrennial Defense Review. Excerpts of the draft document, which is to be released on February 6, have been leaked to the press. One of the most important changes in the U.S. military's structure that it proposes is the largest increase in Special Operations Forces since the Vietnam War.

Thu, 26 Jan 2006 12:00:00 EST A slew of gay, conservative writers
Andrew Sullivan mentions three of my favorite gay writers today–Jonathan Rauch, Norah Vincent, and Walter Olson. Rauch is the exceptionally good libertarian columnist at National Journal. Vincent has been a strong conservative voice for years, long before she made it big with her current book, Male Like Me. Walter Olson, associated with the Manhattan Institute, runs the wonderful antilitigiousness Web site, Overlawyered.com. Many other gays I admire were not mentioned—for example, Tammy Bruce, author of The Death of Right and Wrong: Exposing the Left's Assault on Our Culture and Values.
