A female member of Iraq's transitional National Assembly was assassinated today in Baghdad, the city's emergency police said. Lamee'a Abd Khidawi was shot to death when she answered the door to her house, police said. Khidawi is the first assembly member to be killed since the January 30 elections.

The world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus double-decker A380, completed its maiden flight today Toulouse, France. Thousands of onlookers cheered as the white-and-blue "superjumbo" jet took off. In a passenger layout, the jet has 555 seats. Some passenger planes also will have cocktail bars, double beds and massage parlors. Airbus also says some jets may have jacuzzis and mini-casinos.
