Now, a study appearing in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association suggests that it's not just Baby that benefits: Nursing seems to lower a mother's risk of diabetes. "This is another reason women should really think about giving it a shot," says lead researcher Alison Stuebe, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

China called bird flu a "serious epidemic" and pledged to step up measures to fight the deadly virus yesterday as officials announced three new outbreaks of the disease in poultry in the country.
