AP - A car bomb exploded during Friday prayers at a Shiite mosque in Baghdad, killing eight people and wounding 20, police said. A militant group claimed responsibility for shooting down a Russian-made helicopter carrying 11 civilians, including six Americans, and released a video purportedly showing insurgents shooting the crash's lone survivor.

A video appearing to show a helicopter being shot down north of Baghdad aired today on Al-Jazeera. The network said the tape was from a group that says it shot down the copter. Yesterday, another group claimed it downed the helicopter and released a video that appears to show a survivor being shot to death. Meanwhile, a car bomb today killed at least nine people near a mosque, police sources said.
