Despite earlier statements that it would continue to fight after the cease-fire began as long as Israel remained in south Lebanon, Hezbollah not only has not shot a single Katyusha since Israel began slowly pulling out; it did not react when Israeli soldiers shot and killed some of its armed men. Hezbollah even agreed that it would not let its fighters walk around with their guns showing.
In an effort to cool China's rapidly expanding economy, which grew by a greater-than-expected 11.3 percent in the second quarter, the Chinese central bank has raised interest rates for the second time in four months.

AP - A Missouri man who police say confessed to killing, dismembering and burning the bodies of seven men in his bedroom fireplace was charged Sunday with one count of murder. Michael Lee Shaver Jr., 33, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action related to a killing around the fall 2001.
John Mark Karr, a suspect in the 1996 death of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, arrived early today on a flight from Thailand to the United States, where he will be questioned by investigators. The 15-hour flight from Bangkok to Los Angeles was uneventful, a CNN correspondent said.
Against virtually nonexistent opposition for her Senate seat, Sen. Hillary Clinton is raising money as though she were in the fight of her life. There are other signs of a presidential campaign in the making, but her staffers say she is too busy working on her Senate re-election campaign to think about the 2008 presidential race. A new poll finds the senator would step into the race as the instant front-runner, but the risks for both her and her husband would be enormous.
Three police officers and a state trooper were shot Sunday in Midlothian, Texas, and authorities were in a standoff with a 25-year-old suspect, police said.
