| Most major financial services companies now offer online retirement planning tools. Both Ameriprise and Charles Schwab, for example, offer free retirement guides, and Ameriprise adds a free retirement check-in, during which "you'll talk one on one with an adviser to assess your retirement readiness." Lincoln has 10 different retirement calculators. The tools at these and other sites typically help consumers estimate retirement income and expenses, then set savings objectives.
