As many as 1,800 people are missing after a massive mudslide buried a remote village in the southern Philippine island of Leyte. One day after a rain-soaked mountain turned into a deadly wall of mud, only 56 of the village's 1,875 residents had been found alive, Leyte's provincial governor, Rosette Lerias, said today. Meanwhile, 11 villages have been evacuated as officials fear a repeat of the disaster.
