People in Britain woke this morning to an uncertain future. One of the most closely fought elections in decades has yielded no clear winner, and with no party strong enough to form a majority government doubt looms over who will be the next prime minister. The final votes have yet to be counted but it is clear the Conservative party has won the most seats in parliament, with the Labour party in a close second, and the Liberal Democrats in third. The division of seats means that Britain has a hung parliament for the first time since 1974.Political pundits are speculating over the various scenarios that could ensue, debating over which parties will form a coalition and when. For the time being Gordon Brown remains Prime Minister, and according to the constitution as the incumbent he is given the first opportunity to form a government.

A French blackmailer has been sleeping in a French jail for the past few weeks after he threatened to poison one of the world's most expensive wine vineyards, the Romanée-Conti located in Vosne-Romanée, the heart of the prestigious wine region of Burgundy, southwest of Paris. The 57-year-old man tried to extort one million euros ($1.27 million) from the estate of Romanée-Conti by threatening to poison the vines. "We received a first letter in January saying that we would be getting a second letter with some bad news in it," Aubert de Villaine, co-manager of the estate, told ABC News.
