The request, a major policy reversal for Britain, is likely to be welcomed by the Bush administration, which has been working to reduce the number of detainees.
Outsourcing has long been an option for large, established companies, but many startup entrepreneurs have begun using the strategy to build their companies. From saving money on staffing to growing your business rapidly, outsourcing can be just what you need to launch. That's what Curt Keller found when he started The Benchmark Internet Group in 2003. The Long Beach, California, entrepreneur wanted to start a company that would provide e-mail marketing solutions to other businesses, but he found that fully staffing his company would be cost-prohibitive. Keller looked to China, India and Russia for programmers who could help him launch his website. Internet communication was key?IM, e-mail and Skype proved invaluable to communicating with potential outsourcing partners. "Finding out how well they could communicate with me was a very detailed process," says Keller, 46. "I spent about three to four months talking to people online."
Six Utah miners are still trapped beneath more than 1,500 feet of rock as rescue workers frantically toil to reach them. The miners have been trapped since 4 a.m. Monday after a powerful explosion. Scientists still don't know the origin of the explosion, but the chance that it was a natural earthquake hasn't been ruled out. No one has communicated with the trapped miners since the blast occurred; however, if they survived, there are stores of both oxygen and drinking water in the mine, located 140 miles south of Salt Lake City. Mining is a dangerous job and in the past few years has caused both triumph--nine men were rescued from the Quecreek Mine in Pennsylvania in 2002--and tragedy, as when 12 workers perished at the Sago Mine in West Virginia in 2006. U.S. News reported on how mining coal can come with a nasty price.
Exchange-traded funds and index funds aren't so different. They are both baskets of stocks that are meant to cover a broad sector or index and managed passively rather than actively. You're tracking the same well-known, 500-stock index whether you invest in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF or buy shares in the Fidelity Spartan 500 index fund.

AP - A group of 75 Taliban militants tried to overrun a U.S.-led coalition base in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, a rare frontal attack that left more than 20 militants dead, the coalition said in a statement.
AP - Hot, humid air is blanketing wide areas of the nation this week, and Missouri health experts have been urging people to stay in air-conditioned buildings and take it easy.
Rescue crews in central Utah today will begin drilling through a mountain to reach six trapped coal miners. "We will be on our feet until we get these men out, one way or another," said Robert Murray, CEO of Murray Energy.
