Thousands of Iraqi police officers have been wounded or killed in the last two years, the U.S. commander in charge of police training in Iraq said today. A hazardous materials plant fire forced thousands to evacuate a Raleigh, North Carolina, suburb today. Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly said a building had collapsed at the plant and the fire continued to burn, but he hoped residents would be cleared to go home soon. Half the town's 32,000 residents were urged to evacuate.
